Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
vps.taxi is operated by ZTNV Limited, a private company incorporated in Hong Kong. This policy sets out what you may not do with vps.taxi services and how to report abuse to us. It is part of our Terms of Service. It applies to you and to anyone who uses your server.
1. General rule
1.1 Use the service only for lawful purposes. You must not use it to break the law of Hong Kong, the law of the country where your server is located, or any other law that applies to you.
1.2 You are responsible for everything that happens on your server. This includes activity by your own users, and by anyone who gets in through a security weakness.
2. Content
You must not store, send or publish:
- child sexual abuse material. We report it to the authorities and close the account without notice;
- material that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights of others;
- content used for fraud or phishing, or to impersonate other people or organisations;
- malware, or software used to control compromised computers (botnet command and control);
- other people's personal data without a legal basis, such as leaked databases or personal details published to harass someone;
- threats of violence, or content that incites violence.
3. Network abuse
You must not:
- attack any system or network, including denial-of-service attacks, or offer such attacks as a service;
- access, or try to access, systems or data without permission. This includes brute-force login attempts;
- scan networks or systems for open ports or vulnerabilities, unless they are yours or you have the owner's permission. Large-scale scanning of address ranges you do not control is not allowed, even for research, unless we have agreed to it in writing first.
- forge packet headers, email headers or source IP addresses;
- interfere with other customers' servers or with our network;
- run services that others can misuse, such as open mail relays, open DNS resolvers, open proxies, or other services that can be used to amplify attacks. Limit them to yourself and your own users.
4. Email
4.1 By default, outbound connections on port 25 (SMTP) are blocked. Ports used to send email through a mail provider, such as 465 and 587, are not blocked.
4.2 When you send email from our network:
- do not send unsolicited bulk email (spam);
- send bulk or marketing email only to people who have agreed to receive it, and include a working way to unsubscribe;
- do not use bought or rented address lists;
- do not use other networks to send spam that advertises a site hosted with us.
5. Activities we do not allow
5.1 Cryptocurrency mining on VPS plans. VPS plans share CPU and other resources between customers, so mining is not allowed on them. This includes proof-of-work mining and proof-of-space or storage "farming". Running a blockchain node that does not mine is allowed, within section 6.
5.2 Tor exit nodes. Traffic leaving an exit node appears to come from our IP addresses, so the complaints and blocklistings it causes affect other customers. Tor relays that are not exits, such as middle relays and bridges, are allowed.
5.3 Scanning of systems you do not control, as described in section 3.
6. Fair use of shared resources
Servers share physical hardware. If your server uses so much CPU, disk or network capacity that it affects other customers, we may limit it. We will tell you when we do this, and suggest options such as a larger plan.
7. Keeping your server secure
7.1 You must keep your server reasonably secure. Install security updates, use strong passwords or SSH keys, and turn off services you do not use.
7.2 If your server is compromised or is being used to attack others, we may disconnect it from the network until you have fixed the problem.
8. What we do when this policy is breached
8.1 We usually contact you first by email, explain what we found, and give you time to fix it.
8.2 We may suspend a service immediately, without notice, in serious cases. Examples: child sexual abuse material, attacks coming from your server, a compromised server causing harm, a legal requirement, or repeated breaches.
8.3 For serious or repeated breaches, we may terminate the service or close your account. We do not give refunds in that case.
8.4 We may report illegal activity to the authorities and cooperate with them as the law requires.
8.5 We decide, acting reasonably, whether something breaches this policy.
9. Reporting abuse
9.1 Send abuse reports to abuse@vps.taxi. Please include:
- the IP address or hostname on our network;
- the date and time of the activity, with the time zone;
- what happened, for example spam, an attack, phishing or copyright infringement;
- evidence, such as log lines, full email headers (for spam), or URLs (for phishing or infringing content);
- how we can contact you.
Plain text in the body of the email is easiest for us to process. Attachments are fine.
9.2 For copyright or trademark complaints, also include:
- the work or mark concerned;
- the URL of the infringing material;
- a statement that you own the rights or are authorised to act for the owner;
- a statement that the information in your report is accurate.
9.3 What happens after you report:
1. We check that the IP address or hostname is on our network. If it is not, we cannot act on it. Public WHOIS or RDAP records show which network an address belongs to. 2. We forward the report to our customer and ask them to fix the problem within a set time. If you do not want your name or email address passed on, say so in your report and we will remove them. 3. If the customer does not act, or the case is serious, we suspend the server or remove access to the content. 4. We may let you know when the report has been dealt with. We may not be able to tell you about our customer or the action we took.
We handle reports about ongoing attacks and child sexual abuse material first. We do not offer a guaranteed response time.
9.4 Do not send reports you know to be false.
9.5 Authorities and law enforcement can contact abuse@vps.taxi. We disclose customer information only when Hong Kong law or a legal order that binds us requires it. The Privacy Policy explains this.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We give notice of changes in the way described in section 13 of the Terms of Service.
